Daggers’ DDRE to star in new Netflix show ‘Buying London’

News

A new reality TV series will follow Daniel Daggers’ DDRE Global team as they 'set out to conquer the super prime high-end real estate market from the prestigious streets of Mayfair to the exclusive enclaves of Holland Park.'

Netflix has confirmed a new reality show that promises to shine a light on London’s super-prime property market – and its agents.

The series, called Buying London, will follow Daniel Daggers’ DDRE Global team as they “set out to conquer the super prime high-end real estate market from the prestigious streets of Mayfair to the exclusive enclaves of Holland Park.”

In the same vein as US hit Selling Sunset (see also Selling The OC, Selling Tampa, Million Dollar Beach House, and new one, Buying Beverly Hills), the brokers will share “the intricacies of their personal lives” alongside big-ticket deal-making and lingering shots of London’s luxury homes.

Details of the new series are scant and casting has yet to be announced, but it seems likely that Daggers (instagram.com/daniel_daggers) will play a lead role. DDRE broker and Made in Chelsea star Rosi Walden (instagram.com/rosi.walden) also seems likely to feature.

UPDATE, 21st March 2024: The show is due to air in May 2024. A trailer has just been released:

Showrunner Cam De La Heurta of production company Naked (which also makes Grand Designs, Escape to the Country and The Apprentice) calls his latest project a “reality docusoap”. He’s previously produced shows including Big Brother and The Only Way is Essex.

Here’s the full description of Buying London, via Netflix:

Property mogul Daniel Daggers and his ambitious team of agents at DDRE Global take on and challenge London’s luxury property market in this brand-new Netflix series, Buying London. The talented team set out to conquer the super prime high-end real estate market from the prestigious streets of Mayfair to the exclusive enclaves of Holland Park as we follow the group as they navigate the intricacies of their personal lives as well as striving to make their mark in the glamorous world of luxury real estate.

Prime property is a perennial favourite of TV commissioners, with the “structured reality” approach – which made stars of The Oppenheim Group in the USA – becoming the prime-time format thanks to the huge success of Selling Sunset and its ilk.

A number of UK estate agencies have opened themselves up to the cameras in recent years, including Robert Irving Burns (part-owned and led by Real Housewives character Paul “PK” Kemsley) in Selling Super Houses on Channel 4 (aired last year), and Nest Seekers on the BBC’s Crazy Rich Agents: Selling Dream Homes (also 2023).

Before that, Gary Hersham and the Beauchamp Estates team were showcased in BBC2’s Under Offer in 2014, and UK Sotheby’s International Realty has made two batches of Britain’s Most Expensive Houses for Channel 4 (in 2020 and 2021). There has also been talk of a new Channel 4 show called Property Porn Stars, featuring Tyron Ash Real Estate.

In France, boutique brokerage Kretz & Partners credited its starring role in Netflix’s The Parisian Agency for driving a spike in international enquiries, including a landmark €80mn deal involving Daniel Daggers.
