Construction and housebuilding in the Coalition’s crosshairs

The number of new homes being built across the country has risen to its highest tally since 2007, according to the latest government stats. 137,010 new homes were started in 2014;

The number of units under construction in central London has hit record levels, reports JLL. The current figure of 30,700 is up 8% on H2 2014 and 18% in the last year.

It appears that developers are capitalising on the build-up of confidence in London's prime resi market, with reports of a massive boost in the number of units awaiting planning consent.
