Estate agents’ digital spend has rocketed by 495% in a year, says a leading industry supplier, as more agencies are “starting to transfer their spend from portals and their high street offices to growing their digital footprint.”
The acquisition is the latest move in Zoopla’s strategy to create a “software ecosystem” for the property industry.
“Consumers want more information”, says National Trading Standards’s Estate and Letting Agency team, as it launches a survey to find out what property agents think should be essential on all portal listings.
Some 60% of all estate agency property portal sales leads in Q1 came via Rightmove, according to analysis of around 500,000 inbound leads in the first three months of this year.

Over 2,400 estate agency branches have joined Zoopla since Covid-19 lockdowns began last March, taking the total number of branch and new homes outlets listing on the portal to over 19,500 – the highest number in three years.
“Our new relationship with Reach will significantly boost our consumer engagement as well as providing a valuable platform to support our estate agents’ brands via social media campaigns on a hyperlocal basis,” says property portal boss Jason Tebb.
The Bruce brothers’ new venture is now “progressing to the final stages before launch.”
