Two of London’s top super-prime designers have launched a new interiors studio, and kicked things off with a dream debut commission at Twenty Grosvenor Square.
Both well-known names on the high-end scene, Orlando Rodriguez, Northacre’s longstanding former design director, and his wife Lisette, a former lead interior designer at Linley, Helen Green and Laura Hammett, have joined forces as Rodriguez Design Studio.
Combining their 30 years’ experience in the luxury sector, the couple will be offering services ranging from full interior architecture through to turn-key dressing; the signature style is billed as contemporary-classic, with a Scandinavian twist.
Orlando joined heritage specialist Northacre in 2012, and went on to design some of PCL’s most high-profile new schemes, including The Lancasters, No. 1 Palace Street and the interiors of The Broadway – the developer’s flagship transformation of the former New Scotland Yard HQ.
Swedish-born Inchbald graduate Lisette has spent the last decade at Linley, Helen Green and, lately, Laura Hammett, working on a raft of top-end projects on behalf of private clients and developers.
Most new studios have to start small, but the duo managed to pull off a major coup, bagging an appointment to rework one of the larger units at Twenty Grosvenor Square in Mayfair – launched recently as the world’s first standalone Four Seasons Residences.
The 3,477 square foot apartment was swiftly snapped up by a HNW tenant after being remodelled and designed by the pair – and became one of the first to be occupied at the Finchatton-designed super-scheme.
We’re told there’s a slew of other interesting projects in the pipeline, but details are being kept under wraps for now…
Orlando Rodriguez: “Setting up our own design studio was a natural next step for us. For a long time luxury interiors have all been synonymous with excess and opulence but this is shifting towards making fewer more conscious purchases to create a more timeless result.
“A simpler life of clean lines and considered spaces but still very much about comfort. We believe that simplicity is the new luxury.
“A particular strength is our proven ability to understand how to create real value for our clients.
“We are honoured to have had the opportunity to work on one of the first apartments to be completed and occupied at Twenty Grosvenor Square, easily one of the finest addresses in London.”
