These five homes have attracted the most interest on Britain's biggest property portal this year...

Two grand piles in Surrey, an ultra-modern mansion in Highgate, a country house Essex, and an immaculate turnkey home in Primrose Hill have emerged as the most popular property porn subjects of 2020…

Here are the top five most-viewed property listings of 2020 so far, according to Rightmove:

1. Sydenhurst. Mill Lane, Chiddingfold, Godalming
£30m (via house.)

This sprawling ten-bedroom, 26,000 sq ft Georgian-style mansion is set in 30 acres of parkland in Surrey, and comes with an integral staff flat plus two self-contained cottages. The recently-built property also features indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis court, stables, an indoor bowling alley (complete with disco lighting) and a “teenagers’ dormitory”.

Sydenhurst hit the open market last year with Knight Frank and House Partnership.

2. Heathfield House. Merton Lane, London, N6
£40m (via UK Sotheby’s International Realty & Knight Frank)

Pitched as a “supremely extravagant home”, this 18,000+ sq ft contemporary three-storey London house occupies a two acre site in Highgate, near Hampstead Heath.

It offers ten bedrooms, a tennis court, billiards room, gym and indoor swimming pool, plus a self-contained staff lodge.

Heathfield House came up for sale in October last year with Knight Frank and UK Sotheby’s International Realty.

3.Aspen House. Chigwell, Essex, IG7
POA (via Keller Williams)

This five-bedroom house is set in 52 acres, deep in the Essex countryside, and has its own Olympic-sized equestrian centre. There’s also an underground carport for ten supercars (with car lift and turntable), and an indoor swimming pool complete with waterfalls and jacuzzi.

Keller Williams began marketing the property in March 2020.

4. Woodlawn. East Road, St George’s Hill, Weybridge, Surrey
£22.49m (via Knight Frank)

Woodlawn is located on its own four-acre patch of Surrey’s St George’s Hill private residential estate. The seven-bedroom new-build house was designed in a period style by architect Julian Bicknell for developer Royalton. It features a domed and galleried entrance hall, a semi-circular orangery, a spa complex and two independent staff flats.

Knight Frank has been marketing the property since the beginning of this year.

5. Elsworthy Road, Primrose Hill, London, NW3
£28.5m (Via Aston Chase)

Nestled in London’s Primrose Hill, near Lord’s Cricket Ground, this high-spec 10,000 sq ft, seven-bedroom mansion comes with a wine cellar, cinema room, games room, gym and a private bar.

Approached via a carriage driveway, the house has a private rear garden with direct access to some extensive communal gardens.

This one hit the market back in 2017 (at £28.5m via Aston Chase), following a 16-month refurbishment programme. It was, however, rented out in 2018, having asked £30k per week.

Tim Bannister, Rightmove’s Director of Property Data: “We’ve seen many new trends unfold this year as home-movers have reassessed their housing needs and reprioritised what’s important to them.

“However, one thing that’s remained constant is the nation’s curiosity to look inside the most amazing homes currently on the market and there’s no mistaking that these five properties are the crème de la crème this year.

“Although what’s really interesting about this year’s annual round-up is that there aren’t any penthouse apartments in the list, which reflects a national trend of people wanting more space – both when they’re browsing dream homes as well as when they’re searching Rightmove for something a little more affordable.”
