MPs to debate Stamp Duty holiday extension on 1st Feb
Parliament will debate the possibility of a six-month extension to the Stamp Duty holiday after all, prompted by an online petition that has attracted over 125,000 signatures.

"A tapered relief seems to be the most popular view," summarised Elliot Colburn MP after more than hour of discussions about the merits (and some of the pitfalls) of extending the current Stamp Duty holiday.

"The Government does not plan to extend this relief" beyond 31st March, says an official statement in response to a popular online petition.
