A superb Grade II listed manor house and private estate in Dorset has been listed for auction at a significantly reduced price after failing to sell on the open market.
The 16,270 square foot Chalmington Manor, not far from Sherborne, is thought to date all the way back to the 1500s and comes with over 34 acres of grounds, including a 190 foot aircraft hanger, a 75 foot car garage, a detached three-bed lodge, stabling, an all-weather tennis court, cricket pavilion and former cricket pitch.
It’s been on at OIEO £2m for a while, but has just been listed in Allsop’s upcoming sale with a guide of just £1.25m-£1.5m.
There’s 15 bedrooms in the unmod main house, along with a mega billiards room on the first floor and three more grand receptions.
For eagle-eyed pros wondering about the aircraft hanger, a simple Google search returns an interesting – and rather incongruous – recent history. There’s more on all that here.
Allsop’s next sale is happening on Thursday 20th July. Full catalogue here.
