Boris restricts office-to-resi to ‘protect London’s commercial heartland’

New figures from City Hall show that since 2013, around 1.5 million square metres of office space could have already been converted into residential units in London using permitted development rights.

Areas in seventeen local authorities - including vast swathes of central London - have been exempted from new rights that make it easier to convert offices into resi, due to "exceptional economic circumstances".
