Rightmove buys ‘predictive analytics’ outfit for £2m

The Outside View claims to be able predict which properties will come up for sale in the next 180 days

Britain’s biggest property portal, Rightmove, has acquired a novel “predictive analytics” company, which claims to be able to predict which houses will sell in the next 180 days.

The Outside View was founded back in 2013 by Rob Symes and Chris Bracegirdle, who have developed an algorithm after applying machine-learning to the estate agency sector. The two founders will be staying on to build on their business, integrating it with Rightmove’s existing Local Valuation Alert product and with a plan to roll out “an enhanced version” of The Outside View, using Rightmove’s data.

“The Outside View have developed an algorithm that identifies the most likely potential sellers in a local area enabling agents to more accurately identify and market to them,” said a Rightmove statement. “The founding shareholders will be remaining with the business with plans to launch an enhanced version of this product using Rightmove’s unique insight and dataset, which will work in tandem with the popular Local Valuation Alert product”.
