International design studio OBMI has set up a new base in London as part of a “strategic expansion” into UK and European markets.
Established in Bermuda in 1936, the firm now has a network of offices across the US, the Caribbean and the Middle East, and is known for its work in the ultra-luxury hotel, resi and leisure sectors.
A team of experienced architects and interior designers have been brought in to run the new base on Chancery Lane in WC2, which will serve as a central hub for its European operations.
New hires include: Kate Revyakina as Lead Designer; Adiam Sertzu as Associate Design Director; Federica Sammarco as Project Interior Designer; Portia Leung as Lead Interior Designer; Nelli Denisova as Project Design Architect; and Wiktoria Kopycka as Lead Interior Designer.
- Sertzu, previously Design Director at AKTII, brings 18 years of experience, and previously worked on projects including the Ghana National Cathedral, Ummahat Red Sea Resorts, and The Chancery Rosewood.
- Revyakina, formerly of Zaha Hadid Architects and Heatherwick Studio, has spent 14 years in the industry, working on high-profile schemes including King Abdullah Financial District Metro Station, Hainan Performing Arts Centre, and Unicorn Island in China.
- Sammarco was previously at 1508 London, where she led a number of prestigious projects, including a luxury flat at Chelsea Barracks in London, and worked on various hotels in Dubai.
- Leung has 18 years of international experience, working with brands including Mandarin Oriental, Ritz Carlton, Hilton, Sheraton, and resort hotels including Club Med; her CV includes creative design roles at HBA London, PAL Design Group, and Steve Leung Design Group.
- Denisova, previously of Zaha Hadid Architects, brings a background in mechanical engineering and experience of working on large-scale international projects including OPPO HQ, Danjiang Bridge, and Navi Mumbai International Airport.
- Kopycka has over 15 years of experience in interior design and architecture and has delivered a number of hotels, resorts, private residences and public buildings worldwide, in collaboration with brands including Jumeirah, Swissôtel, Fairmont, and Hilton.
OBMI’s portfolio features luxury projects worldwide, including Royal Mansour Marrakech, Tazi Palace Hotel, Rosewood Little Dix Bay, The St. Regis Bermuda, Al Hamra Palace and Angsana Real de La Quinta Marbella by Banyan Tree.
