Galliard and Frogmore will be happy with the latest sales figures at The Chilterns, their much-hyped luxury resi scheme in Marylebone, with 43 out of the 44 units now sold.
The JV partners have pulled out all the stops at the Squire & Partners-designed project on Paddington Street, linking up with legendary photographer David Bailey and Olympian Antony Joshua to up the amenities ante.
The first phase of residences surfaced on the off-plan market back in October 2013 and sold in double-quick time, followed by a final phase last year, including the £7.7m show apartment; now only a lower ground and ground floor duplex remains, decked out in what’s described as a “moody and romantic style”, and asking £5.4m.
All the interiors at the development have been put together by Rabih Hage, with design features including Japanese style frosted glass and Limed Oak pocket doors in the kitchens; coffered ceilings, bespoke cabinetry and Limed Oak hardwood flooring in the main receptions; and bathrooms kitted out with large-format polished marble slab floors.
The David Bailey art gallery on the ground floor is the first art showroom to be set within a high-end apartment scheme in London – past galleries have been off-site – and houses 19 new large-scale pieces by the cult photographer. A tie-up has also been forged with Antony Joshua’s boxing gym, BXR, giving residents the chance to spar with master trainers in the private gym downstairs – or in their own apartments. Other residents’ amenities include a sauna and spa, private cinema room, secure parking and a basement wine cellar.
Stephen Conway, Executive Chairman of Galliard Homes: “The Chilterns epitomises what London life is all about – luxury mixed with work and play. Where else are you able to live above Olympian Anthony Joshua’s boxing gym plus have an exclusive David Bailey art gallery, literally five steps from your front door? The Chilterns wholeheartedly presents a certain style of living that is of the highest quality and sophistication.”
