Colliers International is “anticipating, and responding to, a significant future growth trend” in the Midlands by recruiting a Head of Residential Land, Development & Consultancy at its Birmingham office.
Iain McArthur joins the firm from McCarthy & Stone, where he headed the West Midlands Land Acquisition team. Before that, McArthur led DTZ’s Residential Development Consultancy team in Birmingham.
Jon Cookson, Head of Birmingham at Colliers International: “The addition of a residential land specialist means that Colliers can offer its clients a totally integrated service. Once dubbed ‘The City of a Thousand Trades,’ Birmingham is on a mission to reclaim its entrepreneurial past and it is bringing with it a wealth of opportunities for feasibility studies, residential land development, PRS and project management services alongside traditional capital markets and agency advice. We are anticipating, and responding to, a significant future growth trend and we welcome Iain to the team.”
Iain McArthur, the new Head of Residential Land, Development & Consultancy at Colliers International: “The residential stock in Birmingham is at a record low which is at odds with its rapidly growing population. While this imbalance is maintaining strong investment and rental returns, if we are to achieve the Birmingham Development Plan target of around 2,500 new homes each year until 2031, whilst also meeting the growing demands for commercial development, a strategic assessment is required for all available green and brownfield sites in the Birmingham and West Midlands region. Colliers has a strong reputation for providing a high quality service and I am excited to be leading on the residential endeavours for the company, working closely with established commercial property experts.”
