Tickets going fast for the prime resi construction industry's annual charity extravaganza...

Full details have now been announced for the 2018 HQR Summer Ball, the big annual charity bash for firms involved in the prime resi construction sector.

Last year’s outing saw 750 guests descend on Park Lane to dine, dance, network and raise nearly £114k for The Lighthouse Club, YoungMinds and the Grenfell Tower fund. The aim is to top the £100k mark again this time around and take the three-year total to well over £250k.

The date has been set for Saturday 30th June at The Grosvenor House Hotel and we’re told two-thirds of tables have already been snapped up.

The two chosen charities for this year have been named as The Lullaby Trust, which provides specialist support for bereaved families, offers expert advice on safer baby sleep and raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS); and The Lighthouse Trust, a construction industry charity that promotes initiatives aimed at avoiding accidents and improving safety on site, whilst improving employment conditions and career opportunities.

Spearheaded by Walter Lilly’s Andrew Crispin and Sizebreed’s Darren Size, the HQR event operates as a charitable trust, with 100% of money raised going straight to worthy causes.

The 2017 extravaganza involved guests being entertained by some high-octane drumming from Slam (who played to a construction theme by featuring step ladders, oil drums, HQR high viz jackets and helmets) and after-dinner dancing to the sounds of Hand Fulla Soul. A raffle and auction saw some cracking lots – including a Silverstone Classic Car Track Day, exclusive tickets for Wimbledon and a four person Las Vegas trip to the USA Rugby Sevens – go at generous prices for charities, before guests dug even deeper for a spontaneous collection for the Grenfell Tower fund.
