Almacantar has released the first images from inside its hotly-anticipated redevelopment of Centre Point.
The West End’s iconic Grade II listed skyscraper is being turned into 82 luxury apartments, featuring 60s-inspired interiors by Conran and Partners and access to a suite of five-star amenities.
In what the developer is calling a “major milestone”, the covers have come off the first apartment in the Vantage Collection – the batch of 2,133 square foot three-beds occupying floors 18 to 30.
Conran says it came up with the interior scheme by “combining the spirit of the building, the creativity of the 1960s and the equally vibrant and creative spirit of London today”, adding that “luxurious materials, and the best in British craftsmanship and design” have been employed throughout.
Residents’ amenities will include a spa and treatment rooms, a 30-metre swimming pool, screening room, 24-hour security and concierge service, while the base of the skyscraper is being turned into a new square, surrounded by new restaurants and shops, and functioning as a link between Fitzrovia and Covent Garden.
Announcing the launch, Almacantar’s Development Director Kathrin Hersel said Centre Point will be a “world-class address in a world-class city”.
Tim Bowder-Ridger, CEO and Senior Partner of Conran and Partners added: “Centre Point is a landmark building from the 1960s – a powerful symbol of London’s style and creativity. Our transformation of Centre Point’s identity for residential use celebrates the original architect’s design. Our inspiration has been taken from the geometry and texture of the façade and touches all aspects of the apartments and shared spaces. We have sought to offer residents a tranquil oasis in what is otherwise a very busy part of the capital, while maximising the stunning, uninterrupted views.”
