Lodha’s first Luxury Collection development – Altamount in Mumbai – has notched up the highest per square foot price for a single apartment in India.
The 10,000 square foot sea-facing duplex on the 34th and 35th floors of Lodha’s 40-storey hyper-prime scheme on the tree-lined Mount Nicholson – occasionally known as “India’s Billionaire Mile” – sold at the weekend for £15.91m (Rs 160 crore). At £1,591 per square foot, that eclipses India’s previous price record of £1,402 – which was only set in September by Pune-based vaccine-billionaire Cyrus Poonawalla for Lincoln House in Mumbai.
Predictably, the Altamount buyer’s identity is being kept under wraps, although The Times of India has reported that the pharmaceutical/manufacturing billionaire Jindal family is behind the deal.
